Common questions on how to sign up and what you'll need to know

How do I sign up?

Our sign-up process is extremely easy and on average takes agents 5–7 minutes to complete. To begin, simply click on the link provided below. Here’s what you should have ready:

  1. Clerical information about the Principal Agent and the Agency

  2. Social Security Number (SSN) and Tax Identification Number (TIN) to complete the AdobeSign W9 Form

  3. Proof of Professional Liability Insurance (Errors & Omissions Policy)

That’s all it takes! After completing these steps, our Compliance team will carefully review your documents within 2 hours. Once approved, you’ll gain access to Strategic Partners and Insurance Group’s Carrier Store to begin requesting carrier appointments.

What are your E&O requirements?

Your agency must maintain an active E&O policy with at least a $1,000,000 aggregate coverage limit. The agent name or agency name on the E&O policy must match what is listed on your Strategic Partners and Insurance Group portal.

Agents affiliated with Strategic Partners and Insurance Group must maintain a Professional Liability – Errors and Omissions policy with a minimum aggregate coverage limit of $1,000,000. To provide evidence of coverage, Strategic Partners and Insurance Group accepts either a Declaration Page or an ACORD form. It is crucial that the policy remains active and that the agent or agency name matches the one listed on the Strategic Partners and Insurance Group dashboard.

What are your licensing requirements?

Agents must possess a valid and active license in either Property & Casualty or Life & Health Insurance, which should be in good standing.

In order for Strategic Partners and Insurance Group to assist with obtaining carrier appointments, agents need to be actively licensed in their respective state. The good news is we make it easy to verify! You will never need to send your licenses to us. We’ve partnered with a third-party company that provides real-time updates on your licenses using your NPN (National Producer Number). However, it’s important to check with your state to ensure compliance, especially when it comes time to renew your license.

I write policies through my business, does my business need agency licenses?

Yes! It is crucial to note that if you operate your business under any other legal entity besides being an individual or sole proprietor, your agency will also be required to obtain the necessary licenses.

To obtain an agency license, it is important to visit the Department of Insurance website for your state. They will provide you with detailed instructions on how to apply. It is crucial to adhere to your state's guidelines to ensure that your agency remains in compliance.

I'm trying to sign up but I don't have an Agency NPN to enter into the application

To register without an Agency NPN or Agency insurance licenses, you must choose to sign up as an individual or sole proprietor for your tax status.

When you provide your FEIN number in our application, we use it to try and retrieve your agency NPN. This allows us to locate your agency licenses. If we are unable to find any licenses, you will notice on the "Select Primary Licenses" page that you do not have any licenses to choose from.

If this happens to you, there is a simple solution. You can adjust your tax filing status to either individual or sole proprietor. By doing so, you will be able to conduct business under your individual licenses. This will enable you to complete your application using SPIG.
